A couple of days ago I actually started reading the bible. I know, I know shock horror. But I started because I've been reading In Nomine and thinking up ideas for a game. I don't know which is worse, me thinking about starting an In Nomine game or beginning to read the Bible for further background information and quotes.
I got as far as the end of Genesis, for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, it's the first chapter, you know, the part where God said "Let there be light".
There are a few problems that I have seen thus far.
1) There is no plot whatsoever
2) The characterisation of the personas is lacking, heh what am I saying. What characterisation.
3) The characters live for a VERY long time, even after god says that it's gonna change and they aren't going to live past 110 or so, they still live 600+ years.
4) It's rife with sexual (mis)conduct, please note that I feel this is a redeeming feature. I'd like to be over 100 and still getting laid, hell, some of them were still going at it after two hundred.
5) Those poor guys in Soddam, they see two hot guys go into a tent and want a have a go. They're bold enough to ask, so perhaps they were on e's, *shrugs*. Actually, as a side note there were alot of similarities to the videos that Falcon make.
I also had a flashback to the movie Dogma, the two angels. But I won't repeat what I imagined, needless to say that Falcon would have been proud.
I'm probably going to be struck by lightning for this, but it was done completely tongue in cheek.
Work was fun, the work itself was pretty boring, but the socialising was fun. I told people that I was updating my journal and had started reading the bible and guess what, I started a conversation about religion at work (and I didn't get fired and nobody died). I surprised myself with how much I remembered from when I used to go to sunday school. But yet again, it could have been stuff I'd picked up from reading In Nomine than from the Bible. I was explaining the part about the fall of the angels and the garden of Eden.
Either way, according to christianity, I'm going to hell anyway so you may aswell go in red sequined slippers.
"There's no place like home".
